Reconstruction of a Roman Pack Saddle, August 2011

Introduction:

The saddle (and pack), were reconstructed based upon a series of hypotheses by David Anthony Murray. David is grateful for assistance from several archaeologists and antiquarian scholars, both freelance and at universities, Guildford Museum and Guildford Heritage Service, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Trust, several re-enactors, owners of pertinent historical websites, four English master saddlers, a metallurgist and farrier, a master carpenter and a teaching assistant .
